Marabou Twist is a cultural icon in Scandinavian confectionery, particularly famous for its variety bags launched in the 1960s during the height of the 'Twist' dance craze. The 'Chocolate Toffee' variant, seen here, is a staple piece of this assortment, known for its firm toffee center coated in rich milk chocolate.

Originally founded in Sweden in 1916 by Norwegian chocolatier Johan Throne Holst, the brand was named after the marabou stork found on the logo of its Norwegian sister brand, Freia. Today, the product is primarily manufactured in the Upplands Väsby factory near Stockholm, Sweden.

Ownership of the brand transitioned from the founding company to Kraft Foods in 1993, and since the 2012 corporate split, it has been owned by Mondelez International. As of 2026, the brand remains a central part of Mondelez's European chocolate portfolio, though it has recently faced public scrutiny in Sweden due to the owner company's international business operations.
