Calvé Licht & Romig Mayonnaise

Calvé is a legendary household name in the Netherlands, originally founded in Delft in 1898 through a merger of the Dutch Oil Works and the French oil factory of the Calvé brothers. While it started as an oil-based producer, it became famous for its peanut butter and mayonnaise products during the mid-20th century.

Today, the brand is owned by the British multinational Unilever. For a long period, production occurred at the historic factory in Delft; however, Unilever closed that facility in 2008, shifting production to other European sites, primarily within the Benelux region and other specialized Unilever manufacturing plants. Calvé remains deeply integrated into Dutch food culture, represented by its wide range of condiments and spreads catering to local tastes.
