Osram lighting solution

Osram is a historic lighting brand that originated in Germany. It was founded in 1919 through the merger of the lighting departments of Siemens & Halske, AEG, and Deutsche Gasglühlicht. The company name is derived from 'osmium' and 'wolfram' (tungsten), two elements commonly used in filament manufacturing at the time.

Today, the brand's ownership is split following various corporate restructuring moves. While the classic lighting business for general applications was spun off as LEDVANCE (now owned by Chinese interests), the core Osram brand and professional lighting tech are part of ams OSRAM. This entity was formed after the Austrian electronics company ams AG successfully acquired Osram in 2020. Manufacturing occurs globally across sites in Germany, Austria, Malaysia, China, and the United States to serve international markets.
