Verkade Tops Chocolade

Verkade is an iconic Dutch brand with a heritage dating back to 1886. Originally founded by Ericus Gerhardus Verkade in Zaandam, the company initially focused on bread and rusks before expanding into the biscuits and chocolate for which it is world-renowned today. The 'Tops' line represented in the image is a popular biscuit variety featuring a milk chocolate and cream filling.

Over the decades, the brand has transitioned from a family-owned business to part of larger international conglomerates. In 1990, it became part of United Biscuits. Today, the brand is owned by pladis Global, which was established in 2016. pladis is a subsidiary of the Turkish multinational Yıldız Holding, one of the largest food companies in the world. Despite the global ownership, Verkade maintains a strong Dutch identity, and much of its production remains centered in its historical home of the Netherlands.
