DVSA Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is an executive agency of the Department for Transport (DfT) in the United Kingdom. It was established on 1 April 2014, following the merger of the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).

As a government agency, its primary role is to improve road safety in Great Britain by setting standards for driving and motorcycling, and making sure drivers, vehicle operators, and MOT garages follow safety rules. It provides services such as driving tests, vehicle testing (MOT), and enforcement checks on commercial vehicles.

The DVSA is owned and managed by the UK government, operating under the jurisdiction of the Department for Transport. It is not a commercial product but a public service entity headquartered in Swansea, Bristol, and Nottingham, serving the British public to ensure high standards of road safety and vehicle maintenance across the nation.
