Benco is a classic brand of instant chocolate granules, widely recognized in Western European markets like France and Belgium. It was originally launched by the Banania company in France during the 1960s, designed to dissolve instantly in cold or hot milk without clumping, which was a significant innovation at the time.
Over several decades, the brand's ownership has shifted through major corporate acquisitions. For many years, it was part of the Unilever portfolio. In the mid-2000s, Unilever sold Benco along with other iconic brands like Banania and Nutrimaine to Nutrial. Later, the brand became part of the Kruidvat-owner portfolio and eventually joined the Céréa Partenaire group. Today, the brand is managed under the Nutrimaine umbrella, which focuses on breakfast and cocoa products.
Manufacturing takes place primarily in French facilities, maintaining the brand's long-standing connection to its country of origin. The product is marketed as being enriched with vitamins and minerals, maintaining its position as a staple breakfast brand for families.
