VOX is one of the most iconic names in the history of rock and roll amplification, best known for its legendary AC30 amplifier which defined the sound of the British Invasion and artists like The Beatles, Queen, and The Rolling Stones.
Originally founded in Dartford, Kent, England, the brand was established by Thomas Walter Jennings under the Jennings Organ Company. Over the decades, ownership shifted significantly as the brand navigated financial changes, eventually being acquired by the British company Rose Morris in the late 1970s.
Today, VOX is owned and operated by the Japanese musical instrument giant Korg. While Korg maintains a specialized 'VOX R&D' team in the United Kingdom to preserve the brand's heritage and design philosophy, the majority of mass-production manufacturing is conducted in highly specialized facilities in Vietnam and China to ensure global accessibility, while premium hand-wired and flagship models are occasionally manufactured in the UK.
