Bubulubu is a classic Mexican candy consisting of a fluffy marshmallow layer topped with strawberry jelly and coated in chocolate. It was originally created in 1978 and became a cultural staple in Mexico, famous for its unique texture and the recommendation to eat it frozen.
For decades, it was the flagship product of Ricolino, a division of the Mexican giant Grupo Bimbo. However, in late 2022, a major industry shift occurred when Mondelēz International completed the acquisition of Ricolino. This transition integrated Bubulubu into the portfolio of one of the world's largest snacking companies, though production remains primarily centered in Mexico to maintain its authentic recipe and regional heritage.
