Nitro Snowboards was founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1990 by Tommy Delago and Sepp Ardelt. From its inception, the brand has been deeply rooted in the snowboarding culture, focusing on innovation and high-quality construction. While the company started in the United States, its design and development office is based in Oberammergau, Germany, reflecting its strong European ties.
Today, Nitro is recognized as one of the leading global brands in the snowboarding industry. The manufacturing of their boards primarily takes place at specialized factories in Austria (such as the Meditec facility), as well as in Taiwan and China for certain models. Despite being a major player in the market, Nitro remains largely rider-owned and independent, focusing exclusively on snowboarding gear including bindings and boots.
