Neutrogena Clear & Defend Face Scrub is a widely recognized skincare product formulated with salicylic acid to help prevent breakouts and exfoliate the skin. The brand has a history dating back to 1930 when Manny Stolaroff founded a specialty cosmetic company called Natone. The brand's reputation was significantly built on its unique amber-colored glycerin soap, which was marketed as being exceptionally mild and pH-balanced.

In 1994, Neutrogena was acquired by the consumer health giant Johnson & Johnson. As part of a major corporate restructuring in recent years, the consumer health division of Johnson & Johnson was spun off into a new, independent entity known as Kenvue. This transition, which became official in 2023, means that Kenvue is now the ultimate owner of the Neutrogena brand. The manufacturing of these products is distributed across various international facilities, with European supplies often originating from plants in France or Greece.
