Oatly is a Swedish food company that specializes in oat-based dairy alternatives. Founded in the 1990s by researchers at Lund University, the brand pioneered the enzymatic process that turns fiber-rich oats into nutritional liquid food. It has since grown into a global leader in the vegan milk market.

While the brand originated in Sweden and maintains its headquarters there, its manufacturing has expanded significantly to include facilities in the United States, the Netherlands, China, and Singapore to meet regional demand. The ownership structure has evolved as well; through its 2021 IPO, it became a public company with major backing from various investment groups including Blackstone and the Belgian holding company Verlinvest, alongside a joint venture with China Resources.
