Flora is a prominent global brand specializing in plant-based spreads and fats. Originally part of the Unilever portfolio, it was developed as a heart-healthy alternative to butter, focusing on unsaturated fats from vegetable oils like rapeseed and sunflower. In the Nordic markets, such as Norway, Flora is a staple household name for plantemargarin (plant margarine).
In 2018, Unilever sold its spreads division to KKR, lead to the formation of Upfield. Upfield is now the world’s largest plant-based consumer goods company, managing a variety of iconic brands beyond Flora, including Becel, Blue Band, and Rama. The product is manufactured across various European sites, with specific distribution and regional packaging tailored for the Norwegian and Scandinavian markets to meet local dietary preferences and regulations.
