Tiger Balm is a globally recognized topical analgesic used for pain relief. Its origins date back to the late 19th century when Aw Chu Kin, a herbalist in the Court of the Emperor in China, developed the ointment. He later moved to Rangoon (modern-day Yangon, Myanmar), where he refined the recipe with ingredients like menthol, camphor, cajuput oil, and clove oil.

Following his death in 1908, his sons Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par commercialized the product and relocated the business to Singapore in the 1920s, which became the brand's primary home. Today, the brand is owned and manufactured by Haw Par Corporation Limited, a publicly-listed Singaporean company.

While Singapore remains the primary hub for production and quality control, Tiger Balm is manufactured in several countries through licensed facilities to meet global demand, including locations in Malaysia, Thailand, and China. It remains one of the world's leading brands for herbal-based pain management.
