Becel Classic Margarine

Becel is a high-profile brand of margarine and spreadable plant-based fats. Originally developed by Unilever in the 1960s, the brand was created to offer a heart-healthy alternative to butter, primarily using sunflower, rapeseed, and linseed oils which are rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids.

In 2018, Unilever sold its spreads division to KKR, a global investment firm, which formed the Upfield Group. In 2024, Upfield rebranded its corporate identity to Flora Food Group. While the brand has its roots in the Netherlands and Germany, it is now manufactured in various facilities across Europe and North America to serve local markets. The brand remains a leader in the plant-based food sector, focusing on sustainability and health-conscious consumer choices.
