Gigaset is a prominent brand in the communications technology sector, particularly well-known for its cordless DECT phones. The brand originated in Germany as part of Siemens AG, specifically under the Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices division.
In 2008, the investment company Arques Industries acquired a majority stake in the Siemens division, later rebranding it as Gigaset AG. The product shown, the COMFORT 500 HX, is explicitly labeled as 'Made in Germany,' reflecting the company's long-standing production facility in Bocholt, which is one of the few high-tech electronics factories remaining in Western Europe.
In 2024, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when VTech Holdings Limited, a global leader in electronic learning products and cordless telephony based in Hong Kong, completed the acquisition of Gigaset's assets. While the ultimate parent company is now Hong Kong-based VTech, the brand's engineering roots and manufacturing for many flagship products remain centered in Germany.
