Orangina is an iconic carbonated citrus beverage containing orange juice and pulp, originally developed in French Algeria by Spanish pharmacist Agustín Trigo and iconic entrepreneur Léon Beton in the 1930s. The brand became a staple of French culture, famous for its unique bulb-shaped bottle and the "shake it" ritual required to mix the pulp.
Today, Orangina is a global brand with complex ownership. While originally French, the brand was acquired by the Suntory Group, a Japanese multinational, in 2009. In France, the product is manufactured locally by Suntory Beverage & Food France (formerly Orangina Schweppes), maintaining its heritage as a drink "Né et secoué en France" (Born and shaken in France). The ultimate owner, Suntory Holdings, is based in Osaka, Japan, and manages a vast portfolio of beverages worldwide.
