Galbani is a historic Italian brand founded in 1882 by Egidio Galbani, originally starting as a family business in the Lombardy region. Famous for popularizing cheeses like Bel Paese and Mozzarella, the brand grew into a global symbol of Italian dairy excellence. Today, while it maintains deep roots in Italy with significant production facilities there, it has become part of a massive international portfolio.
In 2006, Galbani was acquired by Lactalis, the French multinational dairy giant. Lactalis is currently the world's largest dairy products group, headquartered in Laval, France. The ownership remains under the Besnier family. This transition has allowed Galbani to leverage a global distribution network, though its branding continues to emphasize its authentic Italian heritage and traditional cheesemaking methods.
