After Eight is a renowned brand of mint chocolate thins, legendary for its association with post-dinner sophistication. These 'delightfully minty' dark chocolate squares were first introduced to the British market in 1962, designed specifically as an after-dinner treat with a signature grandfather clock logo that symbolizes the luxury of relaxing at the end of the day.
While the brand was originally created by Rowntree & Co. in York, United Kingdom, it was acquired by the Swiss multinational food and beverage giant Nestlé in 1988 during their acquisition of the Rowntree brand. Today, the majority of After Eight chocolates sold globally are still manufactured at the Halifax factory in West Yorkshire, England, though some regional production exists in other European facilities to meet international demand.
Under Nestlé's ownership, the brand has maintained its premium positioning and has expanded its flavor profile to include limited edition variations, while remaining a household staple for holiday gift-giving and formal entertaining.
