Replogle Globes is one of the world's most iconic manufacturers of terrestrial and celestial globes. Founded in Chicago in 1930 by Luther Replogle, the brand revolutionized the industry by making globes affordable for the average household, moving them from luxury items to common educational tools in homes and schools.
Throughout the 20th century, the company maintained its headquarters and production facilities in the United States, specifically in the Chicago area. In 2003, Replogle was acquired by the Herff Jones company. As the brand entered the 21st century, ownership transitioned to the private equity firm Bain Capital as part of their broader acquisition of Varsity Brands (the parent company of Herff Jones), and subsequently was sold to LSC Communications (under the Atlas Holdings umbrella). Today, while high-end globes are still handcrafted in the USA, many components and standard models are manufactured or assembled globally to maintain competitive pricing.
