Lucky Strike is an American brand of cigarettes owned by the British American Tobacco (BAT) group. Originally introduced as a chewing tobacco brand in the United States in 1871 by R.A. Patterson, it evolved into cigarettes in 1916. The "Authentic" variety, shown in the image, is typically marketed as being additive-free tobacco.
Today, Lucky Strike is a global brand. While it originated in the USA, manufacturing for the European market, particularly Germany (as indicated by the German health warnings and taxation mark on the pack), occurs in regional facilities. British American Tobacco, a multinational giant headquartered in London, oversees the brand's production and distribution across more than 180 countries. In Germany, the brand is managed by British American Tobacco (Germany) GmbH.
