While Bolletje was a family-owned business for over a century, it was acquired by the German confectionery and bakery group Borggreve (based in Neuenhaus) in 2013. Despite this international ownership, Bolletje maintains its deep cultural identity in the Netherlands, with its primary manufacturing facilities remaining in Almelo and Heerde. The brand continues to focus on traditional Dutch recipes while expanding into healthier, fiber-rich options for modern consumers.
