After Eight is a renowned brand of mint chocolate thins, celebrated for its 'thin mint' format and distinctive green packaging. Launched in 1962 by Rowntree's in the United Kingdom, it was originally designed as an after-dinner treat. The product gained global popularity for its combination of dark chocolate and cooling peppermint fondant.
In 1988, the Swiss multinational Nestlé acquired Rowntree's, bringing After Eight into its extensive portfolio of confectionery brands. While historically associated with production in Castleford, West Yorkshire, manufacturing for various international markets now takes place in several locations, including Halifax in the UK and Hamburg in Germany, to satisfy global demand. The brand remains a staple of Nestlé's premium confectionery segment.
