KNIPEX is a globally recognized leader in the high-end tool industry, specifically renowned for its specialization in professional-grade pliers. Founded in 1882 by C. Hermann Bütsch in Wuppertal-Cronenberg, Germany, the company began as a small forge manufacturing pincers and blacksmith's pliers. Over more than a century, it has grown into a powerhouse of innovation, introducing iconic tools like the Alligator® and Cobra® water pump pliers, as well as the unique CutiX snap knife which features an innovative stabilization bar.

The brand maintains a strict commitment to quality by keeping nearly its entire production process centralized in Germany. The manufacturing facility in Wuppertal integrates all stages of production—from forging and machining to hardening and final assembly. This local control ensures that every tool meets the rigorous standards required by professional tradespeople in the electrical, plumbing, and automotive sectors.

Today, KNIPEX remains an independent family-owned enterprise, currently managed by the fourth generation of the Bütsch family. Unlike many other legacy tool brands that have been absorbed by large multinational conglomerates, KNIPEX has retained its autonomy. This independence allows the company to focus on sustainable long-term development and engineering excellence, solidified by its position as a world-leading manufacturer of professional pliers distributed in over 100 countries.
