Guava (Psidium guajava) is a tropical fruit native to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. While it originated in the tropical Americas, it was introduced to various parts of the world by European explorers in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, it is a significant commercial crop in numerous tropical and subtropical regions across Asia, Africa, and the United States.
Currently, India is the world's leading producer of guavas, accounting for a massive majority of the global supply. Other major producing countries include Indonesia, China, Mexico, and Brazil. Because it is a fresh agricultural product, it does not have a single 'manufacturing' location but is instead harvested globally from orchards in warm climates. There is no single 'owner' of the guava as a fruit, as it is a natural biological species cultivated by countless independent farmers and large-scale agricultural corporations worldwide.
