Germolene is a well-known brand of antiseptic ointment and cream, primarily used for minor cuts, grazes, and burns. It is distinctive for its pink color and medicinal scent, often containing phenol and chlorhexidine digluconate for dual-action antiseptic and local anesthetic properties.
Originally a British brand, Germolene was produced for decades by Beechams (later GlaxoSmithKline). In 1999, the brand was acquired by the German pharmaceutical giant Bayer. Today, while it remains a staple in first aid kits across the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries, the manufacturing occurs at various global pharmaceutical facility sites under Bayer's consumer health division.
