Today, Starter-branded footwear is produced through various licensing agreements and is primarily manufactured in major apparel hubs such as China and Vietnam. The manufacturing is managed through global supply chains to ensure widespread distribution through big-box retailers and budget-friendly outlets.

The brand has undergone several ownership changes over the decades. It was acquired by Nike in 2004 and subsequently sold to Iconix Brand Group in 2007. Iconix Brand Group remains the ultimate owner and global brand manager, overseeing the brand's licensing across different product categories and international markets.
