ACO (Apotekens Composita) is a legendary Swedish skincare brand founded in 1939 by the Swedish Pharmaceutical Association. Canoderm is one of its most recognized medical products, specifically formulated with urea (karbamid) to treat dry skin and prevent the recurrence of atopic eczema.
Historically, the brand was part of the state-owned Swedish pharmacy system. However, in 2004, it was acquired by the Belgian pharmaceutical group Omega Pharma. Today, the brand is owned by Perrigo Company plc, an American-Irish global consumer self-care giant that acquired Omega Pharma in 2015. Despite its international ownership, ACO maintains strong roots in Sweden, with its research and development laboratory still based in Stockholm and manufacturing primarily occurring within Scandinavia to ensure its pharmaceutical standards are met.
