Brabantia is a renowned luxury household brand with a rich history dating back to 1919. Founded in the small town of Aalst in the Netherlands, the brand was built on a foundation of craftsmanship and durability. It originally started as a small family firm producing milk cans and jugs, eventually evolving into a global leader in interior design and waste management. Today, Brabantia is famous for its 'Designed for Living' philosophy, creating functional yet stylish products that are meant to last a lifetime.
While the brand's heart remains in the Netherlands, its manufacturing operations are strategically spread across Europe and Asia. A significant portion of its metallic waste bins and high-end laundry products are manufactured in its facility in Overpelt, Belgium, which is its main production hub. However, consistent with global supply chain trends, certain product lines and components are also manufactured in China and Latvia to ensure worldwide distribution efficiency.
Ownership of Brabantia has remained remarkably stable throughout its century-long existence. It is still a privately held, family-owned company, managed by the fourth generation of the Van Elderen family. This continuity has allowed the brand to maintain its focus on sustainability and high-quality materials, rather than short-term corporate profits. The company's headquarters are currently located in Valkenswaard, Netherlands, from where it manages its international subsidiaries and distribution networks across more than 90 countries.
