Alka-Seltzer is a world-renowned brand of effervescent tablets used for the relief of minor aches, pains, inflammation, fever, and indigestion. It was originally launched in 1931 by the Dr. Miles Medical Company in Elkhart, Indiana, USA. The brand became famous for its 'Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz' advertising campaign and its unique delivery method of dissolving tablets in water to create an antacid and analgesic solution.

The brand was acquired by the German pharmaceutical giant Bayer AG in 1978 as part of its acquisition of Miles Laboratories. Today, Alka-Seltzer is a core product in Bayer's Consumer Health portfolio. While originally an American invention, manufacturing for various regional markets takes place globally; for the Mexican and Latin American markets, it is primarily produced in Bayer's manufacturing facilities in Mexico City (Lerma).
