Bolt is an Estonian transportation platform providing services such as ride-hailing, micromobility (scooters and e-bikes), car-sharing, and food delivery. Founded in 2013 as mTakso by Markus Villig, it was initially a solution to centralize taxi dispatch in Tallinn and Riga. The company underwent a significant rebranding from Taxify to Bolt in March 2019 to better reflect its expanding product line beyond just cars.

While Bolt does not manufacture cars directly, the vehicles used in its 'Bolt Drive' car-sharing service are sourced from various global automotive manufacturers (such as Toyota, Volkswagen, and Audi) produced in multiple countries. Its micromobility hardware, like custom-designed e-scooters, are developed in-house but typically manufactured by specialized contractors globally.

Today, Bolt remains a private company headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. It is owned by Villig and a group of venture capital investors including Tavex Group, Creandum, and various global investment firms. It operates as one of the largest rivals to Uber in the European and African markets.
