Salomon outdoor footwear and apparel

Salomon was founded in 1947 in Annecy, France, by François Salomon and his family. Originally a metalworking shop producing saw blades, the brand quickly pivoted to creating ski edges and innovative ski bindings, eventually becoming a global leader in winter sports equipment and outdoor gear.

Today, the brand is celebrated for its high-performance trail running shoes and hiking boots. While its design and research center remains in Annecy (the Annecy Design Center), the production of its products is carried out across multiple countries, including Vietnam, China, and Cambodia, to meet global demand.

Starting from 2019 and moving forward into 2025 and beyond, Salomon is a key brand under Amer Sports. Amer Sports itself was acquired by a Chinese-led consortium led by ANTA Sports. This ownership structure places the brand within a massive global portfolio of sports equipment manufacturers, although its creative and historical heart remains firmly rooted in the French Alps.
