Lebara operates as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), meaning it does not own its own physical cell towers but instead rents space from major networks like Vodafone or T-Mobile depending on the country. While the brand has global reach, its ownership structure shifted in 2017 when it was acquired by the Swiss-based investment firm Palmarium and subsequently came under the control of Waterland Private Equity.
