Open Office software suite

Apache OpenOffice is a globally recognized open-source office productivity software suite. Originally born as StarOffice in Germany during the 1980s, the software underwent significant transformations when it was acquired by Sun Microsystems and later open-sourced as OpenOffice.org.

Following Oracle Corporation's acquisition of Sun Microsystems, the project was eventually gifted to the Apache Software Foundation in 2011. Today, it is managed as a project under the Apache Software Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides the organizational, legal, and financial support for a wide range of open-source software projects. The software is developed collaboratively by a community of volunteers from all around the world, meaning it has no single 'manufacturing' country but is a product of international digital cooperation.
