Pantene is a historic hair care brand with roots tracing back to Switzerland in 1945, where it was created by Hoffman-La Roche. The name was inspired by panthenol, a key ingredient in their original formulas. Today, it is one of the most recognizable hair care brands globally, known for its Pro-V (Pro-Vitamin) technology.
The brand reached a global scale after being acquired by the American multinational corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1985. Since then, Pantene has expanded its manufacturing to various locations around the world including France, Mexico, and China to serve different regional markets. While originally Swiss, it is now an American-owned brand under the P&G portfolio, which oversees its global distribution and continuous product innovation.
