Tums Antacid

Tums is a globally recognized antacid brand, famous for its calcium carbonate-based tablets that provide rapid relief from heartburn and acid indigestion. The brand was first developed in 1928 by Jim Howe, a pharmacist in St. Louis, Missouri, who initially created the product in his basement for his wife's indigestion.

Over the decades, the brand transitioned through various corporate owners, notably SmithKline Beecham, which later became part of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). In 2022, GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into an independent entity called Haleon. Today, Tums is owned by Haleon, which is headquartered in the United Kingdom. While the product is marketed globally, the primary manufacturing hub for the North American market remains the historic Tums plant in St. Louis, Missouri.
