While the brand is deeply rooted in Swedish culture and marketed as 'Sweden’s most purchased car,' the actual production for most of the range has been relocated to international facilities in Slovakia to optimize manufacturing efficiency.

The brand is currently owned by Cloetta AB, a leading Nordic confectionery company. Cloetta was formed through mergers involving several historic European candy manufacturers. Today, Ahlgrens Bilar remains one of the flagship products in their portfolio, continuing the tradition of the unique car-shaped foam candy that was originally created by mistake when the factory tried to produce marshmallows.
