Leksands Knäckebröd is a traditional Swedish crispbread brand with a history dating back to 1817. The brand originated in the village of Häradsbygden in Dalarna, Sweden, when Jakobs Karin began baking bread for her family and neighbors. Today, the product is still manufactured in the same location in Leksand, Sweden, using local ingredients like Swedish rye and water from their own spring.
The company remains a family-owned business, currently managed by sixth-generation descendants of the founder. It is one of the few large-scale crispbread producers in Sweden that has maintained its independence from major international food conglomerates. The brand is deeply tied to Swedish heritage, symbolized by the iconic Dala horse on its packaging.
