Ruffles is a world-renowned brand of ridged potato chips, famous for its 'Ruffles Have Ridges' slogan. The brand was originally created by Bernhardt Stahmer in the United States during the late 1940s. He patented the crinkle-cut design, which was intended to make the chips more durable and better for dipping.
In 1958, the Frito Company (which later merged with H.W. Lay & Company to form Frito-Lay) acquired the rights to the brand. Today, Ruffles is a flagship brand under PepsiCo's snack division. In the Spanish market, these chips are widely produced within domestic facilities in locations such as Burgos to serve the local and European regions, maintaining a strong presence in the savory snack sector.
