FatFace is a British lifestyle brand that was founded in 1988 by Tim Slade and Jules Leaver. The brand originally started by selling printed sweatshirts and T-shirts out of the back of a campervan in the French Alps to fund their skiing lifestyle. Over the decades, it grew into a major high-street retailer known for its casual, outdoor-inspired apparel.
In recent years, the brand's ownership has changed significantly. After being owned by the private equity group Bridgepoint for several years, it was acquired by the British multinational retailer Next plc in October 2023. While the brand was born in the UK and retains its British design heritage, its manufacturing is offshore, with this specific garment produced in India. Under the ownership of Next, FatFace continues to operate as an independent brand identity within the larger retail group's portfolio.
