While the brand is Norwegian in origin, its ownership has transitioned through several major food conglomerates over the years. Following its acquisition by Kraft Foods and later Mondelēz International, Maarud was eventually sold to Intersnack Group, a German-based company that is one of the leading manufacturers of savory snacks in Europe. Today, Maarud operates as part of the Estrella Maarud company under the ultimate ownership of Intersnack.
