Kicking Horse Coffee is a premium coffee brand that prioritizes organic and Fairtrade practices. This specific product is a Sumatra whole bean coffee, known for its dark roast and earthy notes, featuring USDA Organic and Canada Organic certifications. While the coffee beans themselves are internationally sourced from Indonesia (Sumatra), the roasting and packaging process take place at their facility in the Rocky Mountains.

Originally founded in 1996 in Invermere, British Columbia, the brand grew from a small local business into one of Canada's leading organic coffee roasters. In 2017, it was acquired by the Italian coffee giant Lavazza.
