Calvé is a legendary Dutch brand with roots dating back to the late 19th century. Founded in Delft by Jacques van Marken as the 'Nederlandsche Oliefabriek' (NOF), it later merged with a French oil company owned by the Calvé family to form Calvé-Delft in 1897. The brand is synonymous with quality condiments in the Netherlands, particularly its mayonnaise and peanut butter.
While the original production plant in Delft closed in 2008, manufacturing remains heavily centered in Europe, with significant production in the Netherlands and neighboring countries. The brand transitioned into the Unilever portfolio early in the 20th century, becoming one of their most stable food brands in the Benelux region.
Today, Calvé remains under the ultimate ownership of Unilever, a global consumer goods giant. It maintains its status as an iconic household name, celebrated for its 'echte smaak' (real taste), and continues to be a market leader in the Dutch mayonnaise category.
