The brand name was inspired by the 'Face de Bellevarde' ski run in Val d'Isère. Over the decades, it evolved into a major high-street retailer known for its casual, outdoor-inspired apparel.

Today, FatFace is owned by the British retail giant NEXT ple, which acquired the brand in October 2023. While the brand has its design and heritage roots firmly in the United Kingdom, its manufacturing is distributed globally, typically sourcing from countries like India, China, Turkey, and Sri Lanka to manage large-scale production requirements. Under NEXT's ownership, the brand continues to operate with its distinct aesthetic while benefiting from NEXT's extensive retail infrastructure and digital platforms.
