The brand was historically part of the German company Vereinigte Papierwerke AG.

Today, Tempo is owned by Essity, a Swedish global hygiene and health company that was formerly part of the SCA group. While the brand has deep heritage in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), its production is now distributed across multiple European manufacturing sites to serve its international markets. Essity maintains a strong focus on sustainability, as reflected on the packaging which highlights plant-based fibers.
