Biafin is a renowned skin repair emulsion originally developed in France. It was created by the French pharmacist and researcher Monsieur Wenmaekers in 1971, initially intended to treat burns in his private laboratory. The brand gained international acclaim for its effective moisturizing and skin-healing properties, becoming a staple in European pharmacies for treating minor burns, sunburns, and post-surgical scars.
For many years, the brand was managed by Janssen-Cilag, a subsidiary of the American conglomerate Johnson & Johnson. However, as of 2023, following a major corporate restructuring, the brand became part of Kenvue. Kenvue is the independent consumer health company spun off from Johnson & Johnson, maintaining global ownership of famous consumer brands. While the brand is a global name, it remains deeply rooted in its French manufacturing traditions, where it is still primarily produced for the European market.
