Listerine is one of the world's most recognized oral hygiene brands. Originally formulated in 1879 by Joseph Lawrence and Jordan Wheat Lambert in the United States, it was initially intended as a multi-purpose surgical antiseptic and even a floor cleaner before becoming a staple in dental health. The brand was famously named after Joseph Lister, a pioneer in antiseptic surgery.

Manufacturing for Listerine products is distributed globally to serve various regional markets, including facilities in Europe and North America. While the brand spent many decades under the ownership of Pfizer and later Johnson & Johnson, it is now part of Kenvue. Kenvue was established as a result of a 2023 spin-off of Johnson & Johnson's consumer health division, becoming a standalone company that manages iconic household names in personal care.
