Carr’s crackers have a prestigious heritage dating back to 1831 when Jonathan Dodgson Carr established a small bakery in Carlisle, England. The brand gained significant acclaim for its thin, crisp table water crackers, which were uniquely baked using brick ovens to ensure a distinctive texture. Carr’s was highlly innovative for its time, eventually receiving a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1841, a status it has maintained through various British monarchs.

Today, the brand remains a staple in the premium cracker market, best known for its Table Water and entertainment cracker varieties. While the brand originated in the UK and continues to manufacture many of its core products there, it has become part of a global snacking portfolio.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through major food conglomerates. Since 2014, Carr’s has been part of the United Biscuits family under the ownership of Pladis, a subsidiary of the Turkish company Yıldız Holding. This ownership structure places Carr's alongside other iconic heritage brands like McVitie's and Godiva, ensuring its global distribution while maintaining its English bakery roots.
