Parmalat is an iconic Italian dairy brand originally founded in Collecchio, Italy, in 1961 by Calisto Tanzi. The brand became a global leader in UHT milk production before facing a major financial collapse in 2003, which led to a complete restructuring of the company.

Today, Parmalat is a subsidiary of the French multinational dairy giant Lactalis, which completed its acquisition of the company in 2011. While the brand maintains its deep Italian roots and original identity, the manufacturing of its chilled beverage products like Caffè Latte occurs in various European facilities to serve local markets in Denmark and across the EU. The ultimate ownership resides with the Besnier family through the Lactalis Group, based in Laval, France.
