Originally founded in Lübeck, Germany, in 1950 by the Erasmi & Carstens company, the brand became a household name known for its convenience and traditional recipes. The manufacturing continues to be centered in Lübeck, where the company maintains a large production facility producing millions of cans annually.

Over the decades, ownership of the brand has transitioned. Today, Erasco is part of the GBfoods group. GBfoods is a prominent international culinary group based in Spain, which acquired the Continental Foods group (the former owner of Erasco) in 2019. This ownership structure places the traditional German brand under the ultimate control of Agrolimen, a Spanish multinational company.
