The Nokia XR21 is a ruggedized smartphone under the iconic Nokia brand. While the brand has its historical roots in Finland, where it became a global leader in telecommunications, the mobile phone business has undergone significant changes in ownership over the last decade.

Currently, the brand is licensed to HMD Global, a Finnish company established to revive Nokia-branded mobile devices. Interestingly, the XR21 marked a significant shift in manufacturing strategy; in 2023, HMD Global began manufacturing these devices in Hungary to meet the security and sustainability demands of the European market, making it one of the few major smartphones partially produced in Europe. However, components and other models are still largely sourced and assembled via partnerships in China and Vietnam.

Today, HMD Global operates as the 'Home of Nokia Phones,' maintaining the brand's reputation for durability and long software support while navigating the complex global electronics supply chain.
